Lessons of Giving

In today's world, one can give and give and give with no end of those willing to take. And when one is at an end of things to give, those who have received turn on the giver as ravenous beasts, treating the giver as if they had been denying the request for aid all along. For the giver is joyful while giving and saddened with there is nothing left to give. But the recipient who constantly demands of others will never be joyful, for greed is at work in them, and greed is never satisfied.

God, let the giver give joyfully, not losing that joy even when there is nothing left to give.

God, let the recipient receive thankfully, for in being thankful for what they have they will not concentrate their attention on what they don't.

Praise be to God who is the giver of all good things.
