Greetings
Greetings to anyone who might be reading this. I finally broke down and created a blog of my own after reading those of others. The main reason for doing this is because I keep seeing things on the web that I would like to share with others, but don't like emailing links to everyone I know. So, this blog will consist of my own thoughts (anything from epiphanies to gripes) as well as the thoughts of others that I have found on the web and thought are worth sharing.
Now, for an explaination of the names. My user name, Staupostek, is a combination of staupos (pronounced stau-ros, Greek for cross) and tek (since I am a techie). So, being a Christian techie, I kind of liked it. When I originally tried to use Staurostek as a user name years ago, I found that name had been taken, so I changed the "r" to a "p" (since the greek "p" is pronounced "r") and thus, Staupostek was born.
As for the "struggling between the immensities", I once heard an Irishman reply, when asked how he was doing, that he was just struggling between the immensities. When asked what he meant by that, he replied that he was just struggling (living life the best he could) between the immensities of life (birth and death). As I thought about his reply, it seemed to sum up how all of us are doing. We are all struggling after something between birth and death, be it survival, more money, love, or the truth.
Which leads me to where I find myself now. I tend to find myself struggling after truth more and more these days, finding that the truths that I "know" aren't, and sometimes never were, the actual truth. The last few years of my life are a path strewn with fallen heroes and vindicated villians, where black is white, white is black, and gray is everywhere. My conservative, Republican, Christian upbringing prepared me well for life. But it also tended to isolate me from influencses that don't see things the way I do. When I wondered into the "darkness", I found that there was light there. And when I wondered back into the "light", I found darkness there also. So, I am currently trying to find the true light everywhere without fear of what's in the dark. For in all of us, both exist.
Until next time, God love you.
